He added the Electric Fretless Bass Guitar and a gigantic 48 Chord Harmonica to his list along the way. A life long member of Holland Community Theater he first appeared onstage at age 11 as a pickpocket in OLIVER! and has since done many musicals with them over the years both on stage and as Music Director and/or pit player. He’s been the bass in the Barbershop Quartet for three different productions of The Music Man. The five professional cast members were hired 3 years later by the Mountain Playhouse in PA to perform a three week run of the show, and they convinced John to take time off from his real job and be a vagabond actor with them again for a month. John was a member of the No Rehearsal Band (NRB) for decades. He discovered those bandmates while singing barbershop music with the Holland Windmill Chorus. A busy cover band, NRB was well known along the lakeshore and some videos of them setting aside their instruments and singing rock songs Accapella are still haunting the internet today. He also worked in a duo called Bubba and Oz, and a six man band called Lomax Bighouse. He occasionally hopes to form or join another band again at some point in the future. John has one son and three grandsons living in Maryland. John’s three cats allow him to live in their home. The family’s 1962 Hammond Organ lives there too.
